Such a bummer to hear about that slide coaster! Good luck on your work protecting that area for the animals who call it home! And while “The Peaceful Side” may not be *as* peaceful as maybe it used to be, it still beats Pigeon Forge and some of the more populated areas on the south side of the park!

We were just there last week and to our disappointment, Townsend and Wears Valley Road are no longer “the peaceful side of the Smokies”. The peaceful part now is only deep into the woods. I also hate (but did not go on) the slide coaster that goes through KNOWN bear territory of a particular female and cubs. These people are well aware of it and I would like to get a petition going to either reroute the ride or do away with it altogether. Going to or near the Smokies is a privilege and we are visitors to the WILDLIFE’s home!
