The Deuter Aircontact Core 60 +10 SL and 65 + 10 are $80 Off at REI
Prior to going full ultralight with my backpacking kit, one of my absolute favorite packs was from the Deuter Aircontact line. An excellent balance of durability, comfort, and weight, I kept that thing long after I transitioned to UL in the event I needed something with extra padding to go on extended expeditions.

Right now at REI, the Deuter Aircontact Core 65 + 10 Pack (Men’s) and Aircontact Core 60 + 10 SL Pack (Women’s) are 30% off their retail price of $260 which comes out to a savings of about $80.
Both of these packs are being discontinued, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t capable. In fact, the Men’s version is REI’s number one best-selling backpacking pack according to their website which I’m not surprised about in the least. This is followed closely by the Osprey Atmos (a cult classic) and an ultralight pack from Hyperlight Mountain Gear (an ultralight cult classic).
Men’s vs Women’s Pack
If you’re wondering what the difference between the men’s and women’s is, besides the capacity, the women’s has a shorter torso range, S-shaped shoulder straps, and a hip-friendly hip belt. If you’re particularly curvy, I’m told it makes a big difference.
Materials and Sustainability
One of the things I love about Deuter is their continued commitment to sustainability. These packs contain Bluesign approved and recycled materials, and they offer a free-of-charge repair program in the United States, no matter the age of the pack or reason for damage. You can’t get much better than that.
So if you’re in the market for a pack you can use and repair–for frankly–the rest of your life, check out the Deuter Aircontact Core over at REI before it’s gone!
